Backup in Progress - when opening company


When opening a company you may occasionally recieve the following error message:


BACKUP IN PROGRESS. You may not open the company until the backup is finished. Please try again later.


To resolve this search in the company data folder for a file called Backup.txt and delete it.

You should now be able to open the company.

Opening Sage Accounts v21+ shows 'Queue.dta is in use' or hangs or closes on the splash window

Ocassionally when opening Sage 50 (right after isntalling it) the following error message will appear:


Queue.dta is in use

Please wait until this file is avaiable.


This happens if the Sage Data Service doesn't have full access to your data files, or if your data is stored on a path in any of the following locations:

If you are reccieving this error message then it is likely that the font file in the company folder has become corrupted. 


To resolve:

Go to C:\Pastel##\Custom\Language and copy the accfont.eng file and paste it into the company folder. 

Rename Accfont.dat to Accfont.old. 

Then rename the Accfont.eng to Accfont.dat.

Ways to update Forecast 5 version 3

Currently there are a few ways to update Forecast 5, below is a list of the current methods:



1. Forecast 5 version 3 is currently setup with Automatic Updates. When a new update is available the following message should appear when you first launch Forecast 5.


2. If the automatic update is not working you can check for updates within Forecast 5 under Help > Update Forecast 5



Error- The service cannot be started either becuase it is disabled or becuase. . . .

When trying to start the Service of a specific SQL Database Engine in Configuration Manager, the following error message may be displayed:     



There may be various reasons for the above error but the following steps have proved to resolve the above error.


In Computer Manage Services or on Configuration Manager do the following:  

1. Set the Startup Type properties of the relevant SQL Server Agent to Manual and then Start it.


How to create an Excel combination chart from scratch

After you have created your Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet, you can visually represent the worksheet data by creating a chart.  Charts often make your data clearer and easier to understand.

If you find that the data is not in sequence or in a group of cells, you may need to create your own series, specifying the labels and values. Data can be extracted from different worksheets and even workbooks.

TIP: To create a quick chart, select any cell within the data range and press F11.

In this tip, we are going to create a combination chart from scratch showing the difference between the Sales and Purchases.

SQL Execution error Table not found

SQL Execution error Table not found

When trying to run a report out the following type of error is received:


CAUSE: There is no SQL server login/user created for connection to your Schema.

RESOLUTION/WORKAROUND: If you are creating a manual connection in Alchemex to connect to a Database where there are generally multiple schemas. You have to create a separate login in SQL server to connect to a single schema. This will then resolve the error:
