Act! Defect Update (effects versions: 17.2, 18.1 and 18.2)

We're please to announce the availability of Act! 17.2, 18.1 and 18.2 Defect Update Media

 

Research & Development has prepared and certified three update packages. Note: As always, Updates are cumulative. Each contains the prior defect fixes so only the latest Update patch needs to be installed to become current.

 

For 17.2 Update 3:

    This update applies to all Tiers and Regions (Intl English, French, German and French Canadian) and fixes these defects:

When I try to open Act! via Internet Explorer 11 I get Error: "Unsupported Browser. The browser you are using is incompatible with our Web site. This application requires that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or higher."

 
 

Symptom:
I get Error: "Unsupported Browser. The browser you are using is incompatible with our Web site. This application requires that you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or higher." when I try to open Act! via Internet Explorer 11

Summary

In ACT! Premium for Web, when completing the Web Server test under Tools > Web Site Administration, you receive the following error:

'Unable to test your web server due to the following error: client found response content type of text/html but expected text/xml'

When attempting to install ACT! you receive one or both of the following error messages: "29503 The SQL Server service failed to start." or "SQL Express Install fails Error 29503 / 1067" When Attempting to install ACT!. This can result if you are missing the following Windows® Registry Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Domain

Error: "Act! has determined that Microsoft SQL Server is not running. Act! will try to start SQL server. This may take a few seconds." when opening Act!

 

Symptom:
While opening Act!, I receive the error:

Error: "Act! has determined that Microsoft SQL Server is not running. Act! will try to start SQL server. This may take a few seconds."

Cause:
This can occur when the ACT7 instance of Microsoft SQL Server® is not started. Act! will attempt to start the service and continue opening the database, if the database does not open, use the following steps to start the SQL Server (ACT7) service.
