Error Code 20 when opening Pastel Partner

Details:
Error code 20 when opening Pastel.
Solution:
Check the following to resolve the error :
  • Pervasive licenses on all machines
  • Uninstall and Re-installation of Pervasive
  • Antivirus disabled
  • User is an administrator
  • If you are using Vista, Windows 7 you will need to turn the UAC (User Access Control) off for more info on that check the attached documents
  • If you are using Pervasive 9 or 10 you will need to turn Embedded Spaces off
 
  1. Go to Start > Run > type in PCC
  2. Under common tasks select Configure Microkernal Router
  3. Click on Application Characteristics
  4. Untick Embedded Spaces

Pervasive client, no server tools

On the server do the following;

  1. Open Pervasive Control Center
  2. Expand Engines
  3. Righht-click on databases
    1. Select 'New' > 'Database'
    2. Name database
    3. Browse to Pastel Partner data
    4. Ensure 'Create Engine DNS' is checked
    5. Finish

On Client Machine

Run Pervasive as a service

Running the Pervasive Workgroup Engine can bypass many errors caused by the engine either not starting or not stopping. Ideal for running Pervasive Workgroup on Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008+

 

Stop the Pervasive Workgroup Engine if it is running

  1. Open Windows Task Manager
  2. Select the processes Tab and end w3dbsmgr.exe

 

 

 

Run Pervasive Utility

  1. Open (double click) c:\pvsw\bin\pvsw.exe
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on WGE as service
  4. Click on Install Service
